Channel Five in the UK is currently having a special on China, showing a range of documentaries and films about the nation and its history. One such program is Paul Merton In China. For those who aren’t familiar with Mr Merton, you can catch him on Have I Got News For You in the UK on the BBC but I would recommend some of the videos on YouTube if your elsewhere in the world. Basically, he’s a funny guy. His recent travels around China are a sight to behold with some hilarious yet very interesting moments.

What stood out for me, was the moment Paul meets Mr Woo, the robot maker. This was a fascinating trip into what can really be done with ’someone else’s rubbish’. Mr Woo creates a multitude of robots, from very small robot dogs to human sized rickshaw runners. To really appreciate the ingenuity I’ll let you watch the below video. It sure was hilarious and very inspiring for me.
